About Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Design Engineer with strong expertise in enterprise networking, SD-WAN migrations, security transitions, automation, and an AI-First mindset.
Our client is migrating their core infrastructure to the Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) architecture. The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-sufficient professional who can independently gather requirements, design end-to-end migration strategies, engage stakeholders both remotely and on-site, and execute migrations within defined maintenance windows.
This role requires a structured, migration-driven approach and the ability to manage multiple parallel projects across distributed European locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage Collapsed Core architectures
- Configure and troubleshoot advanced Layer 2 / Layer 3 technologies (VLANs, EtherChannel, MPLS, OSPF, BGP at the Edge)
- Lead migrations from legacy infrastructures to Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela)
- Design and support firewall transitions from Fortinet environments to SD-WAN tunnels integrated with Zscaler
- Manage enterprise wireless environments (Cisco WLC)
- Drive end-to-end migration projects (audit → assessment → design → implementation → cutover → post-migration validation)
- Coordinate multiple remote site migrations (20–300 users per location)
- Travel within Europe for site audits and critical migration phases when required
- Automate network deployments and changes using Ansible, Terraform, and Python scripting
- Leverage AI and LLM tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to enhance documentation, scripting efficiency, configuration validation, and operational optimization
Profile
- Strong hands-on background in enterprise networking
- Proven experience in SD-WAN deployments and security migrations
- Deep understanding of routing, switching, WAN, and edge technologies
- Experience managing structured, large-scale infrastructure migrations
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects in dynamic environments
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills (remote and on-site)
- AI-First mindset — proactively integrating AI and automation tools to optimize design processes, troubleshooting workflows, documentation quality, and overall engineering efficiency
- Comfortable working in highly structured, migration-driven environments with defined timelines and change windows
