Summary:
• As a Lab Technician, you will support the Custom CPU Power & Performance team by assembling, setting up, and deploying systems under test in a dynamic lab environment.
• You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing test systems while working closely with engineers to ensure efficient test execution and accurate data collection. • The role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work independently in a lab environment with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with Custom CPU engineers to execute tests and collect data efficiently.
• Perform system setup, maintenance, and repairs for systems under test.
• Conduct operational testing and fault isolation on systems and equipment.
• Debug and troubleshoot basic to advanced system issues.
• Interpret results, report findings, and recommend root causes and solutions.
• Manage inventory, asset tracking, system orders, and shipping/receiving.
• Set up and power systems with required BIOS/firmware images and components.
• Communicate effectively across teams regarding status updates and blockers.
• Support lab organization, maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies:
• Strong problem-solving skills (deductive and inductive reasoning).
• Ability to manage multi-step tasks with prioritization and planning.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work within defined parameters.
• Ability to work on semi-routine assignments with independent judgment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience executing test plans and data collection based on engineering requirements
• Familiarity with schematics and Allegro board files (plus)
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as:
- Oscilloscopes
- Multimeters
- Standard test equipment
• Experience loading and running programs/firmware
• Background in R&D lab environments (assembly, setup, deployment)
• Ability to identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs and preventive actions
• Strong lab organization and equipment management skills
• Advanced PCB soldering skills (plus)
• Experience in inventory management and asset tracking
• Comfortable working in multi-OS environments (Linux/Android preferred)
• Familiarity with Jira or other issue/project tracking tools (plus)
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s Degree preferred)
Experience:
• 7+ years of experience as a Semiconductor R&D Technician, or in testing/measurement within the semiconductor industry.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to transport and install equipment up to 30 lbs.
• Perform tasks at varying heights (standing/sitting).
• Use computers and lab equipment for 6+ hours daily.
• Continuous communication with colleagues, customers, and vendors (in-person and remote).
