Client is one of the largest local government organisations in Australia, delivering major infrastructure, technology, and transformation projects that support a growing city. You'll be joining a high‑performing technical environment that values innovation, secure operations, and continuous improvement across complex enterprise networks.

Your new role
As a Network Security Engineer, you will provide specialist support to Secured Network Operations, delivering expert guidance across configuration, implementation, and deployment activities. You'll work hands‑on across large and complex projects, mentor existing staff on emerging technologies, and troubleshoot secure network infrastructure. Your work will span next‑gen firewalls, cloud security, VPNs, PKI, routing and switching, web security, and public cloud network services.

What you'll need to succeed
Minimum 5 years' experience in Network Security Operations
Minimum 3 years supporting large enterprise environments
Strong experience with Next‑Gen Firewalls, PKI, SSL, Cisco routing & switching
Expertise in IPsec VPNs, cloud‑based proxy services, AWS/Azure networking, and web application firewalls
Exposure to Megaport, ExpressRoute, and VMware NSX (highly desirable)
Knowledge of scripting/automation
Relevant certifications such as CCNP, firewall or CISSP are highly regarded.
Ability to assess and manage security risks and issues, with deep knowledge of security best practices
