Product Manager – Payments & Broking

The Opportunity

Paytm Money is India’s fastest-growing wealth & broking platform, trusted by millions of investors across Mutual Funds, Stocks, Derivatives, and NPS. We sit at the intersection of fintech, capital markets, and consumer internet — and we move fast.

This role is at the core of our business. Payments are the lifeline of every transaction on the platform — and the PM who owns them owns the pulse of Paytm Money. You will be responsible for the end- to-end payments experience across Equity, Mutual Funds, and NPS, from the moment a user taps “Pay” to final fund settlement. You will own critical investment journeys, user engagement loops, and the internal infrastructure that keeps everything reconciled and compliant. Your work will directly shape revenue, retention, and the trust millions place in this platform every day.

What You Will Own

Payments Infrastructure

• Own and evolve all payment modes — UPI, NetBanking, Bank Transfer, UPI Autopay,

eNACH, and NACH — across Equity, MF, and NPS.

• Drive success rate optimisation across every layer of the payment funnel using drop-off

analytics, NPCI error codes, and vendor SLAs.

• Build and maintain technical and business continuity plans for all payment flows.

• Own end-to-end fund settlement flows from user to acquiring bank to payment aggregator to

downstream custodians and regulators.

• Lead TPV (Third Party Validation) flows, credit MIS, and regulatory compliance needs specific

to the broking business.

Investment & Trading Journeys

• Own critical investment journeys including recurring investment flows — from creation and

mandate setup to recurring payment execution.

• Manage analytical and derivatives trading journeys, ensuring depth, performance, and an

intuitive user experience.

• Own the “add funds” flow triggered by orderpad drop-offs when users are short of balance —

reducing abandonment and improving conversion.

• Build internal middleware and tooling for end-to-end fund tracing, credit/debit reconciliation,

and ops automation.

Core Product Management

• Write crisp PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineering and design can

execute on immediately.

• Own the product roadmap for your modules — balance quick wins with long-term platform

thinking.

• Run structured discovery: user interviews, usability tests, and continuous feedback loops to

shape product direction.

• Define and track north-star metrics, funnels, and engagement KPIs; translate data into

actionable product decisions.

• Plan and execute GTM for new features in partnership with business, marketing, and

compliance teams.

• Coordinate with external vendors — Payment Gateways, Payment Aggregators, and third-

party integrations — on onboarding, SLAs, and escalations.

What We Are Looking For

Domain & Business Acumen

• 3–6 years of product management experience, with meaningful exposure to broking,

payments, or fintech.

• Deep fluency in payments — UPI rails, NACH mandates, settlement cycles, reconciliation, and

payment aggregator ecosystems.

• Solid understanding of broking fundamentals — order management, fund flows, TPV,

regulatory obligations under SEBI / PFRDA / NPCI.

• Comfort navigating equity, derivatives, and mutual fund jargon in conversations with business,

compliance, and engineering alike.

Product Craft

• Strong funnel thinking: you track metrics obsessively, spot drop-offs fast, and ship fixes faster.

• Proven ability to take products from 0→1 with a clear launch plan and the execution muscle to

see it through.

• Full product lifecycle ownership — you stay engaged post-launch, close the feedback loop with

real users, and keep iterating.

• Strong writing skills: your PRDs, specs, and comms are clear, structured, and leave no room

for misinterpretation.

• Experience running A/B experiments, interpreting results correctly, and making data-backed

calls.

AI-First Ways of Working

• Use AI tools actively in day-to-day work — for drafting PRDs, summarising research,

generating prototype flows, and synthesising user feedback at scale.

• Comfortable building low-fi or medium-fi AI-assisted prototypes (using tools like Claude,

ChatGPT, v0, Figma AI, or similar) to align stakeholders before a single line of production code

is written.

• Leverage AI for funnel analysis and anomaly detection — turning raw data into hypotheses

quickly without waiting on analyst bandwidth.

• Automate repetitive ops and coordination tasks using no-code/AI tooling, freeing up your time

and your team’s time for higher-order thinking.

• Think actively about where AI can be embedded in user journeys — personalised nudges,

smart error recovery, proactive recommendations — and champion those ideas into the

roadmap.

Execution & Stakeholder Management

• Know how to build and navigate escalation matrices to unblock delivery across engineering,

ops, compliance, and external vendors.

• Able to drive cross-functional alignment without authority — clear communicator, fast decision-

maker, calm under pressure.

• Identify operational bottlenecks in your modules and own their automation end-to-end.

Good to Have

• Prior experience working directly with Payment Gateways, Payment Aggregators, or MF

transaction platforms.

• Familiarity with SEBI, PFRDA, or NPCI regulatory frameworks and their product implications.

• Hands-on experience with product analytics tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Clevertap, or similar).

• Exposure to AI product features in fintech — personalisation, smart alerts, conversational

flows, or risk nudges.
