Senior Software Engineer – Financial Services

💰 €95,000 - €140,000 base + 10% bonus

Overview

We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation in Madrid to hire a Senior Software Engineer. This is a high-impact role within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment where you’ll help design, build, and scale robust systems that support critical financial operations.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in an onsite, collaborative setting and enjoys working on complex, high-performance systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and services
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, data, and infrastructure
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in your preferred language (e.g. Java, Python, C#, Go, etc.)
• Contribute to architectural decisions and system design
• Optimise performance, reliability, and security of applications
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BSc) from a top 300 globally ranked university
• Extensive experience as a Software Engineer in a commercial environment
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language
• Solid understanding of software architecture, data structures, and algorithms
• Experience building distributed systems or high-availability platforms
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work onsite in Madrid 5 days per week

Desirable Experience

• Background in financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries
• Experience with microservices architecture and APIs
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
