Our client, an advertising agency based in New York City, is seeking a Freelance Project Manager to join their team. This role sits within a fast-paced, in-house creative production environment and supports the execution and activation of marketing campaigns across multiple digital and traditional channels. The Project Manager will oversee complex, high-volume creative production workflows and partner with creative teams, stakeholders, and external partners to deliver campaigns that drive business growth and performance. This role serves as the operational lead behind creative production, translating marketing objectives into structured plans with clear timelines, deliverables, and workflows. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, bring structure to ambiguity, proactively drive alignment across stakeholders, and continuously improve workflow efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.This role requires familiarity with performance marketing and paid media workflows, including high-volume asset production across acquisition and retention channels.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage high-volume, concurrent creative workflows across performance marketing channels
  • Build and maintain detailed project timelines, identifying dependencies, risks, and downstream impacts
  • Own end-to-end project execution from intake through delivery
  • Provide proactive status updates and clearly communicate risks, blockers, and tradeoffs
  • Maintain structured workflows within project management tools (Asana preferred)
  • Partner with stakeholders to clarify briefs, define scope, and align on priorities and timelines
  • Coordinate across creative, marketing, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth delivery
  • Develop production schedules that balance quality, speed, and resource constraints
  • Track deliverables, manage resources, and ensure deadlines are consistently met
  • Create documentation, status reports, and performance metrics for leadership visibility
  • Support campaign activation across digital channels, including email, social, and display
  • Implement quality assurance processes to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
  • Support adoption of automation and AI tools to enhance project workflows
  • Collaborate across global or multi-region teams, accounting for localization and timing needs


Performance Marketing Support:

  • Support high-volume asset production across paid media channels (display, social, email)
  • Partner with stakeholders across acquisition, engagement, and retention initiatives
  • Ensure briefs are complete, actionable, and ready for production
  • Identify gaps in information and drive clarity before execution begins
  • Coordinate campaign timing, formats, and asset variations across channels


Required Qualifications:

  • 7–9 years of project management experience in marketing, creative, or production environments
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects at scale
  • Strong expertise in project management tools and workflow organization (Asana preferred)
  • Advanced timeline management skills, including dependency management and risk mitigation
  • Experience working with creative teams and understanding production requirements
  • Familiarity with digital marketing channels and campaign execution processes
