About The Role And The Team

The Big Data Group is responsible for processing, storing, and delivering meaningful information both within the Adform Flow product and to external clients. Its work begins once raw internet data is captured and available in the Adform environment. The group’s processing mechanisms transform raw data into augmented, valuable information, which is stored in Vertica and HDFS. Several development teams operate within the group, each focused on building microservices that handle real-time data. These services support various domains such as DMP, Reporting, Algo, and Research. The Engineering Manager role in Big Data oversees two or three of these teams. The manager is accountable for people management, delivery of development outcomes, and stakeholder alignment. Ultimately, the role ensures that teams perform at a high level while meeting organisational goals.

• Team Leadership & Development: Hire, mentor, and grow engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning
• Project Delivery: Plan, prioritise, and oversee execution of backend projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, other development teams, architects to achieve business goals
• Operational Excellence: Own system reliability, performance, and monitoring; drive incident management and root-cause analysis
• Process Improvement: Continuously refine team processes (agile, CI/CD, testing) to boost productivity and quality
• Stakeholder Communication: Communicate progress, risks, and technical trade-offs effectively with leadership and non-technical stakeholders
• Technical Guidance: Technically aware to support and challenge the team in making architectural and design decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable

• Proven leadership experience in managing backend or cross-functional engineering teams
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to align engineers, product, and business stakeholders
• Experience in project delivery with agile practices, prioritisation, and balancing short- vs. long-term goals
• Ability to mentor and grow engineers, fostering career development and high performance
• Solid understanding of engineering best practices
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills with a balance of technical depth and business impact
• Track record of driving operational excellence in areas like performance, reliability, and incident management
  
  

Stand Out By Having

• Prior development experience in back-end micro services in Scala / Java / Python in Big Data Domain
• Knowledge on technology used in Big Data domain like Kafka, Hadoop, Vertica, Cloud technology will be added advantage
• Prior experience in Adtech domain
