About The Role

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Support the routine daily activity of the production environment.
• Aid in general equipment, deployment, configuration and maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of L2/L3 network systems within the backend operations, and across the various data center sites (switches, VPNs, IP address spaces, etc).
• Assist in planning, designing, and implementing scalable network solutions to handle year over year growth.
• Help administrator infrastructure services (DNS, Zabbix, Kentik), Prometheus, Grafana, etc).
• Familiar with network based troubleshooting tools (ping, MTR/traceroute).
• Maintain and support operational Documentation and scripts.
• Understand the environment enough to help administer/debug operational systems.
• Setup BGP peering via automation to potential peers on IX (Internet Exchanges).
• Participate in the 24×7 on-call pager rotation and respond to alerts as needed
• Assist to implement a wide variety of operations projects as time permits.
• Help train operations staff as needed
• Shadow and assist other Network Engineers on larger projects.
• Schedule can include weekends, early daytime and late evening shifts, and holidays.
  
  

The Right Fit

• 3+ years of work in an IT position (Datacenter, Cloud, or Network related fields).
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, sFlow.
• Basic knowledge of network design, protocols (BGP, OSPF, IPsec, VPN solutions, etc.), and security best practices.
• Understanding of modern cloud services and data center infrastructure.
• Good problem solving, investigative, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  
  

Bonus Points

• Experience working at a technology/software startup.
• Familiarity with configuration management and automation software (Ansible preferred).
• Experience with IPAM and CMDB systems.
• Exposure to other self-hosted cloud infrastructures.
• Python and BASH scripting skills.
