An exciting short‑term contract opportunity is available for an experienced Project Manager to support a major whole‑of‑government Finance Reform Program. This role will play a critical part in onboarding a key South Australian Government department onto a new Oracle‑based financial system, replacing the legacy Masterpiece platform.
The role
Reporting to the Director, Technology and Asset Services, you will be responsible for managing the department’s onboarding and transition activities as part of the broader Finance Reform Program led by the Department of Treasury and Finance.
As the primary point of contact for the program, you will ensure alignment with governance, controls and reporting requirements while coordinating business readiness, system integration, testing, cutover and transition to business‑as‑usual operations.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the department’s primary liaison with the Finance Reform Program, ensuring alignment with program governance and milestones
- Develop and manage integrated project schedules aligned to onboarding readiness, system integration, testing and cutover
- Coordinate activities across business units including Technology and Asset Services, Finance and Investment Services, Skills SA, central agencies and third‑party providers
- Identify business and technology impacts arising from the transition from Masterpiece to the new Oracle platform and coordinate mitigation actions
- Lead change, communication and business readiness activities to support successful adoption
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and decision registers, escalating as required
- Prepare clear, decision‑focused reports and briefings for senior leadership and governance forums
- Ensure delivery is achieved within agreed timeframes, operating with a high degree of autonomy
Technical environment
- New across‑government financial system based on an Oracle platform
- Integration delivered via flat files to maintain backwards compatibility with Masterpiece (no direct integration with Oracle)
- Integration of the Prophix budgeting system with Oracle
- Focus on system integration, testing, cutover and transition to BAU
About you
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Strong experience delivering complex enterprise system or ERP implementations involving significant business process change
- Proven ability to manage multi‑agency, cross‑functional stakeholders across business, ICT, finance and external vendors
- Experience coordinating dependencies and deliverables across diverse teams under tight timeframes
- Well‑developed change management and business readiness capability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive‑level briefings
- Sound judgement, strong prioritisation skills and the ability to operate autonomously in complex environments
- Experience working within financial management, accounting or ERP system contexts (Oracle experience not mandatory)
- Experience within the South Australian public sector, including whole‑of‑government or multi‑agency programs is desirable
- A collaborative, transparent and constructive approach
