Protect People, Product, and Compliance in a Highly Regulated Environment
We are seeking an experienced Safety & Security Officer to lead and oversee site-wide security and occupational health & safety programs within a highly regulated cannabis manufacturing environment.
This is a critical leadership role combining regulatory compliance, physical security oversight, and workplace safety management. Acting as the site's Responsible Person in Charge (RPIC), you will ensure the facility remains secure, compliant, and inspection-ready while fostering a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.

About The Role
As Safety & Security Officer, you will own the facility's security framework and support occupational health & safety programs across cultivation, processing, packaging, and storage operations.
You will work cross-functionally with Compliance, Quality Assurance, Facilities, HR, and Operations teams to maintain a secure and safe environment aligned with the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and Ontario Occupational Health & Safety requirements.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities:
Security Program Leadership & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain and continuously improve the site Security Plan and associated SOPs.
- Serve as primary liaison with regulators and internal leadership on security matters.
- Maintain inspection-ready security documentation, logs, and reports.
- Oversee daily operation of physical security systems including restricted access areas, vaults, and barriers.
- Administer CCTV and surveillance platforms, ensuring system integrity and performance.
- Conduct video reviews and investigations to verify procedural compliance.
- Manage access credentials, security clearances, and role-based access permissions.
- Monitor intrusion alarms and coordinate incident response activities.
- Lead on-site investigations, evidence collection, and incident reporting.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions following incidents.
- Coordinate Health Canada security clearance applications and renewals.
- Deliver onboarding and refresher training on security and diversion prevention.
- Provide day-to-day coaching to staff and contractors on security compliance.
- Act as primary contact for security guards and technology vendors.
- Coordinate guard activities, patrol expectations, and incident communication.
- Track security metrics and provide reporting to support continuous improvement.
- Support administration of the site Occupational Health & Safety program.
- Participate in inspections, investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
- Support Joint Health & Safety Committee activities.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness initiatives including drills and response planning.

You'll bring:
- Previous experience in security operations within a highly regulated industry, e.g. Cannabis, Pharmaceuticals, Controlled Substances, Food Manufacturing.
- Experience managing CCTV/surveillance systems, access control platforms, alarm monitoring, and incident investigations
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and inspection readiness.
- Experience supporting occupational health & safety programs and workplace safety investigations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- High attention to detail and sound judgement during security or safety incidents.
- Proficiency with security software, MS Office, and incident trend analysis.
