We are looking for a hands-on Lead Software Engineer (Data/Backend) to join a cutting-edge SaaS platform focused on electric infrastructure planning. This platform leverages digital twin technology, geospatial analytics, and advanced forecasting models to help utilities, governments, and regulators make data-driven decisions about the future of energy systems.

🔍 About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving engineering excellence and delivery quality across the platform. You will work closely with Product and Architecture leadership while mentoring engineers and shaping best practices.

💼 Key Responsibilities

• Lead PR reviews ensuring high quality, consistency, and fast turnaround
• Drive technical design reviews for features, refactoring, and data pipelines
• Write clean, scalable, production-grade code
• Define and enforce coding standards, review processes, and definition-of-done
• Establish testing strategies (unit, integration, data validation)
• Mentor and support junior & mid-level engineers
• Ensure reliability, performance, and security of data services (Python/PySpark)
• Support incident analysis and continuous improvement
• Coordinate across teams to maintain stable data contracts and interfaces

🧑 💻 What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in software/data engineering (with leadership exposure)
• Strong hands-on experience in Python & PySpark (production environments)
• Experience with AWS services (S3, EKS, RDS/PostgreSQL, Bedrock)
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow)
• Proven track record in improving engineering quality & standards
• Strong communication and mentoring skills

⭐ Nice to Have

• Experience in energy, utilities, or forecasting domains
• Knowledge of Spark performance tuning and large-scale data quality practices

📍 Location

• Hybrid role – based in Zaventem (minimum 1 day/week on-site)
