About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer (Backend) or a Junior Product Designer to strengthen our team. You will contribute to the development and evolution of applications used by a mix of internal and external stakeholders.

In this context, your purpose is to help design and build digital solutions that improve usability, efficiency, and reliability in a structured public-sector environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of digital products in a regulated environment
• Improve usability, consistency, and reliability across applications
• Work closely with multidisciplinary stakeholders in an agile context
• Support the delivery of maintainable, user-centred, and scalable solutions

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for candidates with experience in either backend development or product design. You do not need both.

Main activities

Product Design

• Design accessible and user-friendly interfaces based on user feedback and design-system principles
• Translate needs into wireframes, wireflows, annotated concepts, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs
• Contribute to iterative improvements that make applications easier and more effective to use
• Advise on digital design best practices across navigation, content patterns, foundations, and UI consistency

Backend Development

• Deliver high-quality backend code and contribute to testing activities
• Analyse and resolve application issues and support upgrades of existing versions
• Integrate components into broader application landscapes
• Contribute to reliable and maintainable software in a structured delivery environment

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work in an agile, multidisciplinary team spanning analysis, design, development, and testing
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and turn them into practical solutions
• Help ensure alignment between user needs, product expectations, and technical delivery

Required Skills & Experience

Product Design profile

• 1-3 years of experience in UI/UX design and working with design systems
• Experience designing wireframes, wireflows, annotated screens, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs
• Understanding of user journeys, usability, and interaction patterns
• Knowledge of Figma
• Experience working in an agile environment

Backend Development profile

• 1-3 years of experience in backend development
• Knowledge of .NET and C#
• Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure
• Experience with testing and application integration
• Understanding of code quality, debugging, and version upgrades
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Experience using AI tools for software application development is an asset

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and active listening skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work collaboratively across design, business, and engineering
• Curiosity, learning agility, and a hands-on mindset
• Comfortable working in a structured environment

Languages

• Full Professional Proficiency in Dutch (French is a plus)
• Full Professional Proficiency in English
