Chief Platform Engineer (DevOps) for Development Performance

We are excited to announce the new position of Chief Platform Engineer (DevOps) for the Development Performance squad within the Developer Experience Tribe. As Chief Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of software delivery performance monitoring, developer tooling, and engineering intelligence — delivering platforms and insights that drive measurable improvements in how software is built and delivered at Danske Bank.

The Development Performance squad is dedicated to enhancing software delivery performance through strategic monitoring and design. We build and maintain platforms and tools that streamline processes and empower stakeholders with clear, actionable engineering insights — including our Live Engineering platform and the emerging space of AI code assistant measurement.

You will:

• Build and evolve the Live Engineering platform — developing the pipelines, APIs, and interfaces that collect, process, and surface software engineering performance data and DORA metrics across the organisation
• Pioneer the measurement framework for AI code assistants and agents — designing and building solutions to track utilisation, quantify impact, and monitor costs across AI-assisted development tools
• Develop observability solutions that provide real-time visibility into tool adoption and license utilisation
• Design and build internal tools and automations that simplify developer onboarding, license provisioning, and tool lifecycle management across the developer tooling portfolio
• Drive automated vulnerability management and platform update workflows to keep the tool stack secure and current
• Set technical direction across squads — identifying where automation and agentic AI can eliminate toil and shift focus toward high-impact engineering
• Engage with the developer community across tribes to uncover friction points and translate them into tooling and platform improvements
• Review code and guide engineering decisions within the squads, ensuring solutions are maintainable, well-designed, and built to last
• Communicate effectively at all levels — discussing technical implementation with engineers and conveying platform strategy and roadmap to stakeholders and leadershipAssist other squads in the tribe in developing efficient, high-quality solutions
• Ensure that AI Assistants and Agents used by developers are fully SDLC‑aware and properly governed
  
  

About you:

• At least 7 years of experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Software Engineer with a strong focus on tooling, automation, and developer platforms
• Strong software engineering fundamentals — you write clean, well-designed code, understand design patterns, and can review code with intent, not just correctness
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C# — capable of building production-quality internal tools, REST APIs, and automations, not just scripts
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar)
• Experience with container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift), cloud environments (AWS preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• A track record of building automation at scale — engineering solutions that eliminate recurring manual effort, not just one-off fixes
• Experience working with engineering metrics and data pipelines — comfortable collecting, processing, and visualising software delivery performance data
• Able to work in an environment with evolving requirements — self-directed, structured, and capable of turning ambiguous problem spaces into concrete outcomes
• Experience with or strong interest in agentic AI development — applying LLMs and agent frameworks to automate complex, multi-step engineering workflows
• Inspirational and motivational collaborator with strong people skills, capable of leading through influence and driving alignment across teams
• Structured problem solver with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English

Monthly salary range from 5760 EUR to 8640 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
