Our client, is leading a major initiative aimed at supporting the development of a modern, innovative, and sustainable social model, promoting better employment opportunities and equal access.
We are looking for an AI expert, that will who will drive the adoption, governance, and implementation of AI solutions across the organisation.
As the AI Expert, you will:
- Launch AI proof‑of‑concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate real‑world value, ensuring full alignment with internal AI governance frameworks. Once validated, you will guide the PoCs into fully industrialized, production-ready solutions.
- Identify opportunities to integrate AI within existing IT systems and business processes, enhancing efficiency, automation, and decision‑making.
- Monitor corporate AI initiatives and communicate progress to relevant stakeholders, ensuring local alignment with broader digital transformation efforts.
- Oversee the implementation and risk assessment of AI-related solutions, providing structured reporting to data governance and compliance contacts.
- Deliver hands-on training and awareness sessions on AI tools, techniques, and best practices to staff members, fostering AI literacy across the organisation.
What you will do:
- Design the IT architecture for solutions in the NLP / ML / AI fields, and implement PoCs such as in the ChatBot / RAG field;
- Analyse data assets & business processes;
- Analyse risk-level of existing LLMs implemented in few of EMPL IT systems;
- Industrialise PoCs once they have proven to bring value-added, in close collaboration with other engineers members of EMPL.A4;
- Train custom machine learning (e.g. RAG based) based on structured and unstructured data;
- Interact with the local data correspondent, the digital transformation officer, and other IT stakeholders;
- Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis;
- Follow the progress of implementation of corporate AI initiatives @EC, and identify opportunities to leverage the use of them within DG EMPL;
- Contribute to the analysis of data management vision, strategy and policy and derive the IT requirements
What you need to be a great match:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant or equivalent field.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience.
Skills & Expertise:
- Experience with Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent proficiency in Python.
- Strong knowledge of core NLP/ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, SpaCy, NLTK, Scikit‑learn, Pandas, Pydantic).
- Solid experience with package management tools (Poetry, pip, Conda).
- Strong understanding of OOP and functional programming.
- Proficient with Git workflows.
- Extensive knowledge of machine learning techniques, deep learning, and neural networks—particularly text processing models.
- Strong knowledge of prompt engineering and modern LLM techniques.
- Experience with MLOps practices (model testing, deployment, monitoring, versioning, experiment tracking).
- Good understanding of data management principles.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, experimental design, and large-scale data processing.
- Working knowledge of LLMs, transformer architectures, and RAG systems.
- Familiarity with Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Bicep is an asset).
- Good understanding of Linux environments.
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and vector databases.
- Proficiency in query languages (SQL, ES, QL).
- Understanding of agile software development methodologies.
Workplace type: The role is primarily remote, with the requirement to be based near Brussels, Belgium and available to reach the premises within two (2) hours when necessary.
