About The Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated PHP Developer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our existing PHP codebase and APIs, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability. Your expertise will help improve the speed and efficiency of our platform, as well as develop new features that enrich the user experience. You will play a key role in identifying system bottlenecks and implementing innovative solutions, including adopting new technologies and strategies for scaling our infrastructure. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, participation in code reviews, and a passion for writing high-quality, maintainable code are essential aspects of this position. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of advanced technologies, such as memcached, MongoDB, Gearman, Redis, and custom in-house solutions, in a fast-paced and creative environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing on the LAMP stack, with the ability to set up and manage a LAMP environment independently.
• Extensive experience with SQL databases and query optimization for high concurrency and large datasets.
• Strong proficiency in PHP, with a focus on writing clean, efficient, and self-documenting code.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; though coding in these languages is not a primary requirement.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Knowledge of security best practices and web development standards.
• Experience with lower-level programming languages such as C or C++ is a plus.
• Interest or experience working with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Redis, or memcached.
• Ability to identify and eliminate system bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions.
• Strong attention to detail, with a high bug-to-line-of-code ratio and adherence to coding standards.
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, balancing ideal solutions with practical implementation.
• Excellent communication skills and a sense of humor.
• A passion for learning new technologies and staying updated with industry best practices.
• Bonus points for contributions to open source projects, experience with large-scale systems, or familiarity with templating systems like Smarty.

• Participate in troubleshooting and resolving production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal user experience.
