Assistant Internal Auditor

Job Summary

The Assistant Internal Auditor supports the Internal Audit function by performing audit assignments, reviewing internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations, and identifying risks and improvement opportunities. The role requires regular travel and on-site visits to multiple branches and operational locations across the Sultanate of Oman to conduct audits and verify adherence to procedures.

Key ResponsibilitiesAudit & Control

• Assist in executing the annual internal audit plan and assigned audit engagements.
• Conduct operational, financial, compliance, and process audits across branches and departments.
• Evaluate internal controls and identify control gaps, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.
• Perform audit testing, sampling, and verification of transactions, records, and approvals.
• Review compliance with company policies, procedures, and delegated authority levels.

Branch Visits & Field Work (Oman Travel Requirement)

• Conduct regular on-site audits and inspections across branches, warehouses, and operational sites within Oman.
• Verify adherence to SOPs, cash handling rules, inventory controls, and customer service standards.
• Observe day-to-day operations and assess process effectiveness in real working conditions.
• Prepare branch visit reports with findings, root causes, and corrective action recommendations.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare clear audit working papers and maintain proper audit documentation.
• Draft audit reports highlighting findings, risks, and practical recommendations.
• Follow up on implementation of corrective actions and report progress to management.
• Support investigations related to suspected fraud, errors, or policy violations when assigned.

Risk & Compliance Support

• Assist in identifying key operational risks and supporting risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with internal governance standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce risk exposure.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with branch managers and department heads to collect required audit data and evidence.
• Communicate audit observations professionally and objectively.
• Provide support during external audits when needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in internal audit, accounting, finance, or compliance (preferred).
• Professional certifications (preferred but not mandatory): CIA / ACCA / CPA / CISA.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, auditing standards, and risk management.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
• High integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
