About this opportunity

This is not a traditional job offer. It is an opportunity to join an early-stage startup as a founding engineer and help build a product designed to safeguard human intelligence in the age of AI.

We are looking for a full stack developer with strong front-end instincts who is ready to take ownership of a collaborative knowledge platform and help shape both the product and the company from the ground up. The role includes designing, implementing, and testing code to ensure optimal performance and fixing software bugs.

This is a salary plus equity role, with meaningful ownership and direct influence over the direction of the product and business. We are looking for a technical third who cares deeply about the product, our customers and roadmap, and building a healthy business.

What we’re building

We are building a collaborative insights management platform that helps individuals and organisations capture, structure, and share knowledge more effectively. The product is already live and used by thousands of people for conferences, research, and internal knowledge sharing. We are now focused on improving the user experience, scaling the platform, and expanding its capabilities as we move from early traction toward a much larger global opportunity.

What You’ll Own

You will have significant ownership across both product and technical direction:

→ Product Development: Shipping high quality features and improvements weekly, always focused on delivering user value

→ Front End Experience: Elevating the usability, interaction design, and overall feel of the platform

→ Technical Direction: Contributing to decisions across architecture, backend structure, and system design

→ Product Quality: Owning testing, debugging, and performance improvements across the stack

→ System Resilience: Improving documentation, reducing single points of failure, and strengthening internal systems

→ Collaboration: Working closely with both founders to shape product, design, and engineering decisions

What we’re looking for

Technical skills

· Experience building and shipping real products in a startup, freelance, or small team environment

· Code in Go and TypeScript. You don't need to know Go or TypeScript yet, but you must be ready to learn it.

· Treat documentation (clear release notes & scope checklists) as a core part of the definition of done.

· Use code reviews and knowledge sharing to eliminate single points of failure.

· Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and architectural issues independently.

· An awareness of infrastructure as code (we use Pulumi).

· An appreciation for automated testing (we use vitest, go test and Playwright).

Mindset

· You want to build something from the ground up and take ownership of meaningful work

· You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and making decisions without perfect information

· You care deeply about product quality and user experience, not just functionality

· You are pragmatic and know when to move fast versus when to build for scale

· You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates. You are motivated by solving complex, sometimes unsearchable problems

Compensation and structure

Equity and Cash Component: Our starting salary reflects our early-stage status and is paired with founding equity share options and a commitment to increase compensation as we hit our MRR milestones.

Open to both full time and part time arrangements

Hybrid working between Edinburgh and London, with optional London workspace and regular in person collaboration
