About the Role

The Project Engineer plays a key role in the planning and coordination of construction projects.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, this position ensures projects move forward safely, accurately, smoothly, and within the established timeline and budget.

This role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, including bidding, scheduling, field coordination, documentation, invoicing, inspections, and project closeout.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed project cost reports, including labor, equipment, supplies, materials, and gravel.

Review timecards for accuracy and update T and M logs weekly.

Prepare scope sheets and project-specific documentation for superintendents, foremen, and field operators, including specifications, schedules, supplies, quantities, and time budget expectations.

Support field management by interpreting plans and specifications and assisting the Superintendent as needed.

Gather and manage project material submittals and maintain approval records.

Participate in bids by performing quantity take-offs, preparing bid packages, and supporting subcontractor and supplier outreach.

Assist in developing and updating project schedules.

Prepare monthly invoice details for the Project Manager review.

Process submittals, RFIs, and change orders with general contractors and owners.

Update and maintain project drawings and specifications, including as builts.

Maintain quality control documentation and participate in preparatory meetings and inspections.

Submit digital utility locates before project start, every two weeks during active projects, and after major weather events as required.

Assist with proposals, change orders, and project close-out documentation.

Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes as directed.

Required Qualifications

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong math and basic accounting skills.

Close attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and within a team.

Ability to access and navigate construction sites in varied climates and environments.

Preferred Experience

Experience with CAD.

Experience with Trimble Business Center.

Familiarity with GPS technology.

Experience with time tracking software.

Experience with Microsoft Project.

Education in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent construction-related experience will also be considered.

Schedule and Benefits

Flexible schedule within 6 am to 6 pm Mountain Time.

7 US holidays per year.

10 days PTO annually.

15 days PTO after the second year.
