We're building the platform behind a global on-demand skincare brand - helping entrepreneurs across Europe and the US launch, manufacture, and fulfill their own product lines. We're a small, senior team and we're scaling fast. Our platform needs to keep pace, and so does our team.
We're not looking for a ticket-taker. We're looking for an engineer who thinks like a product owner, writes like a craftsman, and ships like they mean it.
At Selfnamed, we call this a Product Engineer - someone who owns features from the first "why" all the way to production, and who isn't waiting to be told what to build next.
How we work
- Engineers scope their own sprints and propose workload aligned with the product roadmap and company goals - direction comes from the business, execution ownership comes from you
- Major decisions start with a written RFC before any code is written
- We prototype early, demo weekly, and course-correct fast
- Cross-functional by default: backend devs tweak frontend, frontend devs understand the build pipeline
The stack:
- Backend: PHP 8.2 (Yii2 / Laravel), REST APIs, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis
- Frontend: Vue.js 3, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind
- Desktop: Electron, Node.js
- Infra: Docker, Nginx, Cloudflare Workers, CI/CD via GitHub Actions
What you'll own:
- Features end-to-end - API design, DB schema, business logic, and the Vue.js UI to go with it
- Order fulfillment, manufacturing automation, and inventory systems that affect real operations daily
- Your own technical proposals - you scope, you advocate, you deliver
- Code quality: tests (PHPUnit / Vitest), code reviews, and design system fidelity are baseline expectations here, not bonuses
What we're looking for:
- 4+ years in PHP backend development (Yii2, Symfony, or Laravel)
- Comfortable with Vue.js / TypeScript - not a specialist requirement, but you can't be afraid of it
- Solid PostgreSQL skills - schema design and query optimization, not just ORM usage
- Git, Docker, CI/CD feel like second nature
- Strong English - async communication is part of the job
- You have opinions about how software should be built, and you can defend them in writing
Nice to have:
- Experience writing RFCs, ADRs, or similar technical design documents before jumping into implementation
- Hands-on experience delivering features with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI Codex, or similar) - we use these tools and value engineers who use them effectively
- Cloudflare Workers or edge computing experience
- Background in e-commerce, fulfillment, or logistics systems
What we offer:
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Health insurance after trial period
- Hybrid: 2 days on-site in Mārupe + flexible hours
- A small, senior team where your decisions have real, visible impact
- Opportunity to work across multiple products - from our core platform to fulfilment APIs and desktop tooling
- Learning budget covering courses, books, workshops, mentoring, and industry events
- Lunch compensation via Bonus Karte
- Staff discounts on our own skincare and cosmetics products
