The opportunity: Senior Relationship Manager (Vice President) – Permanent contract

Being part of HSBC in Luxembourg, you’ll help evolve and grow our Institutional Client Group (ICG) business. Do you have a good understanding of transaction banking products? Are you comfortable with onboarding, KYC and CDD processes? Do you have experience in a client facing role?

What you will do:


Functionally reporting to the MD – Europe Head of Illiquid Investors, and locally to the Head of Banking Luxembourg, you will be responsible for managing and growing the client portfolio made of Luxembourg-registered subsidiaries of Institutional clients, with a focus on private capital investors, such as Private Equity and Private Credit fund managers. You will focus on delivering transactional banking solutions, notably Cash Management and Securities Services, as well as opportunities across Global Markets (GM), Lending, and Asset Management.


In this role, you will (but not limited to):


  • Proactively develop an understanding of the clients’ business needs and identify solutions in response to the challenges that they face.
  • Focus on delivering transactional banking solutions, in particular for private capital clients.
  • Drive customer satisfaction and cost containment, whilst meeting the Group conduct outcomes.
  • Have a high awareness of the sector and competitor activity and share with teams and stakeholders accordingly.
  • Drive collaboration with other teams and businesses across HSBC, including global relationship bankers, for clients that are headquartered in other countries, to identify and deliver new opportunities in Luxembourg.
  • Be accountable for financial and non-financial risk, including credit, operational and reputational risk for a client portfolio.


You should apply if you have:


  • Substantial experience in Banking with expertise managing relationships with Institutional clients and understanding their needs.
  • Strong understanding of macro-trends and latest industry developments to identify solutions and remain competitive in the market.
  • Proven relationship management skills and a track record of engaging with decision makers as a trusted advisor.
  • Strong understanding of the financial markets in Europe, as well as a deep knowledge of the financial products and institutional client industry segments.
  • Strong risk management skills and a good understanding of credit and financial crime risk management as well as operational risk.
  • An ability to lead and influence senior stakeholders to achieve desired outcome.
  • Fluency in English.
