Overview

Rapiscan Systems is an industry leader in detection technology, providing cargo and vehicle inspection systems and services for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and checkpoints to help customers combat terrorism, drug smuggling, illegal immigration, and trade fraud.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network / IT Engineer to support and maintain the IT infrastructure that underpins Rapiscan X-ray inspection systems. The role involves servers, networks, and systems supporting critical airport operations, working closely with Service, Engineering teams, and external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and support servers, networks, and related IT infrastructure
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident response
  • Support X-ray system operations, ensuring performance, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, UPS systems, and data circuits
  • Monitor system performance and recommend upgrades or improvements
  • Support system integration, commissioning, upgrades, and migrations
  • Maintain accurate technical and service documentation
  • Provide technical guidance and support to service teams
  • Communicate effectively with customers and project stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Windows Server and workstation environments
  • Solid server and network configuration experience (essential)
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, and routing
  • Linux/Unix administration experience (advantageous)
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware / Hyper-V)
  • Exposure to PLC programming or industrial systems (advantage)
  • Background in X-ray, security, or industrial systems highly desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an airport security pass
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call and weekends
  • Degree in IT, Engineering, or a related technical disciplineIndustry-recognised IT certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco) desirable
