We are seeking motivated Cyber Security Analysts to join our Cyber Security teams and play a critical role in protecting the ATO from evolving and sophisticated cyber threats.
These roles support and contribute to the monitoring, analysis and response to cyber security risks and incidents, working with increasing independence and under the general guidance of senior cyber security staff.
As an APS 5 Cyber Security Analyst, you will help protect the ATO’s people, information, assets and services by applying cyber security procedures, operating security tooling, and supporting the day‑to‑day operation of cyber security processes.
You will work alongside cyber specialists, IT teams and business areas to support the investigation and analysis of security events and assist in implementing cyber security controls in accordance with government and industry frameworks. You’ll help maintain technical procedures, runbooks and playbooks, and assist with routine monitoring. You’ll support incident response activities, contribute to vulnerability identification and remediation efforts, and assist with threat analysis and reporting.
In this role, you’ll contribute to capability uplift activities by providing input to cyber security documentation, maintaining artefacts and registers, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and supporting junior staff through informal coaching and knowledge sharing. You‘ll build your technical capability through on‑the‑job learning, training and collaboration, and work effectively with technical and non‑technical partners to support secure, reliable and client‑focused outcomes.

- Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst (Brisbane CBD, Canberra and Melbourne CBD only)
- Cyber Penetration Tester (Canberra and Melbourne CBD only)
- Cyber Engineer
- Threat Hunter and Detection Engineer

These roles may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Adelaide, Brisbane CBD, Burnie, Canberra, Dandenong, Melbourne CBD, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney CBD, Townsville or Wollongong. A merit pool may be formed and used to fill future similar vacancies in these locations and other locations within the same metropolitan area.
