About The Role

We are seeking a talented Software Developer to join our dynamic Viya Host Systems team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on foundational code that enables SAS products to interface seamlessly with multiple host operating systems, including Windows and Linux, as well as cloud storage providers like Amazon S3, ABS/ADLS, and GCS. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the modernization of our software, particularly in developing support for Long Names and Extended Data Types. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering high-quality software solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure the delivery of scalable and reliable products. Additionally, you will troubleshoot customer-reported issues, contribute to technical documentation, and participate in open source projects, all while adhering to security and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
• Minimum of 5 years of enterprise software development experience
• Advanced proficiency in C or C++ programming, with at least 2 years of hands-on C experience
• Strong knowledge of multithreaded programming and thread safety
• Experience with debugging complex systems and analyzing system logs and metrics
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on schedule
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and implement high-quality, scalable software solutions within project timelines
• Collaborate with stakeholders including product managers, architects, and SMEs to ensure requirements are met
• Participate in project scoping, estimation, and scheduling activities
• Conduct code reviews to maintain code integrity and cross-product consistency
• Develop automated tests at various levels (unit, functional, integration, system, performance)
• Support internal and external customers by troubleshooting and resolving software defects
• Author technical documentation and design specifications for internal and external audiences
• Contribute to open source projects and participate in community engagement efforts
• Adhere to security policies and best practices in secure software development
