Node.js /PHP Backend Engineer (Freelance contract)

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Integrations domain. You

will be key in developing and scaling our integration platform. This role requires not just

technical expertise, but the ability to set standards, guide the team, and define the technical

direction for our platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and long-term ownership of the core integrations platform.
• Understand customer workflows and ensure technical decisions align with business goals.
• Implement practices to enhance the development lifecycle and improve delivery performance.
• Mentor and elevate the team through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Champion AI-powered development tools to optimize workflows.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in backend systems, with a strong background in Node.js and PHP.
• Proven expertise in the integrations space with a solid understanding of webhooks, APIs, and multi-tenant platforms.
• Experience with modern backend technologies, including message queues (RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS or similar), PostgreSQL, and cloud services (AWS).
• Strong decision-making skills with experience in technical judgment, research, and prototyping.
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving and the ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
• A commitment to quality with experience in testing, observability, and operational excellence.
• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).

Nice to Have

• Experience building developer-facing APIs or SDKs.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
