About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic software development team in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the design, development, and architecture of innovative mobile applications that enhance our customer experience. You will lead by example, inspiring and mentoring a team of Android developers, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products. This position does not involve direct reports but requires an advanced hands-on approach to development, technical design, and architecture.

As part of our technology-driven culture, you will contribute to projects that empower customers to take control of their credit and financial health through features like Credit Keeper, Personal Information management, and Quick Check. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Android development and architecture, with a minimum of six years of experience in native Android applications using Java and Kotlin. You should have extensive knowledge of application and data design, and experience with modern development tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins. A Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Additionally, you should have demonstrated experience mentoring junior and intermediate developers and guiding technical and business stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-platform application systems that serve our diverse customer base.
• Collaborate within an agile mobile development team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment and support.
• Enhance software engineering practices by designing, developing, testing, and implementing innovative technical solutions using a full stack of development tools and technologies.
• Provide expertise on how emerging technologies influence domain-specific applications and suggest improvements for existing systems.
• Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers to foster skill development, best practices, and technical excellence.
