The Security Engineering Specialist supports the deployment, operation and maintenance of the organisation’s security infrastructure, contributing to a secure and resilient technology environment. This hands‑on role is responsible for implementing and supporting cyber defence technologies such as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), while assisting with security monitoring, incident response and reporting. The role also contributes to security projects and initiatives that strengthen the organisation’s overall cyber security posture.

What you will be doing
- Provide day‑to‑day security operations support, responding to routine security requests and maintaining accurate records of actions taken.
- Assist in investigating and resolving security system issues using established procedures and diagnostic tools.
- Monitor, document and report on security incidents and events, contributing to operational and management reporting.
- Support first‑line incident management by gathering information, allocating incidents, escalating where required and keeping stakeholders informed.
- Assist with implementing and monitoring security policies, controls and protocols across systems.
- Support reviews of access controls and permissions to ensure alignment with security policies and standards.
- Contribute to the identification, analysis and escalation of security risks, governance issues and compliance gaps.
- Maintain documentation relating to incidents, risks, controls and security operations activities.
What you will bring
- Experience in information security or infrastructure support roles.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (desirable) and security or technology certifications such as CompTIA Security+ (advantageous).
- Financial services experience is beneficial.
- Ability to work under routine direction, contributing effectively to team outcomes and managing assigned tasks.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative, customer‑focused approach.
- Strong problem‑solving skills to investigate and resolve routine security and infrastructure issues.
- Adaptable and organised, able to prioritise work and operate effectively in changing environments.
- Strong interest in cyber security, with a growth mindset and willingness to learn.
- Practical experience with security technologies such as EDR, PAM, DLP, MFA and firewalls.
- Understanding of security controls, governance and risk across on‑prem, cloud and application environments.
