Network Engineer - Routing & Switching, SD-WAN, Fortinet, Palo Alto.

Design mission-critical networks for millions of Victorians, not troubleshoot someone else's legacy mess.

You'll architect and maintain the network infrastructure. This includes designing LAN/WAN solutions, managing Meraki wireless deployments, and ensuring rock-solid connectivity for registration and licensing services across the state.

You get proper funding for network upgrades and certifications with study leave. You'll work with modern tech including SD-WAN, AWS and Azure cloud networking, plus monitoring tools like New Relic and SolarWinds.

You'll collaborate with security and cloud teams who actually understand networking complexities. No on-call rotations or weekend emergencies - they staff properly and plan maintenance windows.

What You'll Do:

- Design and implement LAN, WAN and wireless networks supporting state-wide operations

- Configure firewalls, VPNs and intrusion detection systems for secure government environments

- Monitor network performance using New Relic and SolarWinds, optimising bandwidth and reducing latency

- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new networking equipment for procurement decisions

What You'll Need:

- Strong experience with routing, switching, VLANs, network segmentation and SD-WAN technologies

- Hands-on knowledge of Meraki Wi-Fi, AWS/Azure networking, and hybrid cloud solutions

- Proficiency with network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and automation tools like Python or Ansible

- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Meraki or CISSP preferred
