We’re partnering with a large-scale organisation undergoing a significant digital transformation to build and modernise mission-critical data platforms and digital products.

This is an opportunity to lead high-impact engineering teams working on high-throughput, data-intensive platforms, in an environment that combines scale with startup-like ambiguity and ownership..

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers to design, build, and scale platforms across domains such as:

• Real-time data platforms powering decision-support systems
• Web and mobile applications delivering time-sensitive information
• Product platforms

Many of these systems are currently undergoing modernisation, including migration away from legacy/vendor-managed platforms toward cloud-native architectures.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and grow a team of about 6–10 engineers (including distributed/augmented teams)
• Own delivery of high-availability, data-driven platforms with strong reliability requirements
• Define and execute technical roadmaps, balancing immediate delivery with long-term scalability
• Drive modern engineering practices (CI/CD, cloud adoption, system reliability, observability)
• Partner with product and cross-functional teams to translate complex requirements into scalable systems
• Navigate ambiguity - including legacy systems, vendor transitions, and evolving priorities

What We’re Looking For

Leadership & Experience

• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex systems at scale
• Comfortable in fast-moving, evolving environments (startup or transformation experience is a strong plus)
• Strong stakeholder alignment and execution skills

Technical Background

Hands-on capability with strong depth in at least one area:

Backend / Platform Engineering

• Node.js (highly preferred), Go (preferred) or languages like Java, Rust, Ruby or similar
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS or Azure)

Mobile Engineering

• React Native, Kotlin, Swift / Objective-C

Environment

• Systems with real-time data processing and high reliability requirements
• Ongoing legacy modernisation and platform rebuilds
• Fast-moving environment with evolving priorities; requiring adaptability and ownership
