1. JOB PURPOSE / SUMMARY

The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) for oil & gas projects. This role ensures that all products, materials, and processes comply with client specifications, applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will oversee inspection, testing, documentation, and non-conformance control to guarantee project integrity and safety.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Assurance (QA)

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and procedures in line with ISO 9001 and API Q1/Q2.
  • Conduct internal and external quality audits (suppliers, subcontractors, project phases).
  • Manage document control for quality records – ensure latest revisions of drawings, specs, and standards are used.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) for non-conformances (NCRs).

Quality Control (QC)

  • Oversee day-to-day inspection activities (incoming, in-process, final) for equipment, piping, structural, and welding works.
  • Coordinate and witness NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) such as UT, RT, MT, PT.
  • Review material test certificates (MTCs) and ensure traceability.
  • Verify welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and welder qualifications.
  • Monitor coating, painting, and insulation quality as per project specs.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and review QA/QC reports, test packages, and final handover dossiers.
  • Ensure all documentation meets client and regulatory requirements (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM, BS).
  • Maintain logs for NCRs, inspection requests, calibration records, and personnel certifications.
  • Liaise with client representatives and third-party inspection agencies.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Provide QA/QC training and guidance to site teams.
  • Report quality performance metrics and KPIs to management.

3. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Civil, or related field).
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of QA/QC experience specifically in oil & gas projects (onshore/offshore, pipelines, refineries, or petrochemicals).
  • QMS Knowledge: Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 and API Q1/Q2.
  • Inspection & Testing: Proven experience in inspection, testing, and documentation control.
  • NDT & Standards: Strong knowledge of NDT techniques (UT, RT, MT, PT) and industry standards (ASME Sec V, VIII, IX; API 1104; AWS D1.1; etc.).
  • Software: Proficient in MS Office and quality management software (e.g., LIMS, QMS tools).
