Information Security Expert

As a preferred supplier to one of our biggest financial organisations, I am seeking for an Information Security Expert for a 12 months+ contract in Netherlands.

Responsibilities:

The Information security expert is responsible for conducting comprehensive, end‑to‑end audits of systems, processes, SaaS platforms, and internal controls to ensure compliance, security, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation. This role involves detailed analysis, evidence gathering, root‑cause identification, and actionable reporting to stakeholders across Security, IT, Compliance, and Business units. The expert provides insight into gaps, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities.

Experience:

• Strong technical understanding of IT platforms, applications and security architectures, with the ability to assess systems beyond documentation, policies, and self‑reported controls.
• Hands‑on experience reviewing technical configurations, including access controls, authentication mechanisms, security settings, and system behaviour.
• Solid knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM), including role‑based access control (RBAC), privileged access management (PAM), access governance, and user lifecycle controls.
• Understanding of cloud, SaaS, and platform architectures, including shared responsibility models, sufficient to identify security, ownership, and control gaps.
• Strong understanding of IT security controls, cloud security principles, access governance, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to read, interpret, and challenge architecture diagrams, data flows, security configurations, and technology stack documentation.
• Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, CIS, GDPR, and applicable internal policies.
• Ability to communicate complex findings in clear, non-technical language.
• Skilled in working with cross-functional teams (Security, IT, DevOps, Compliance, Business).
• Strong documentation, reporting, and presentation skills.
• Typically 6-8 years in internal audit, security auditing, IT risk, compliance, or similar roles.
