Job Title: DevOps Engineer (Azure & AWS) – Contract

Location: Melbourne, VIC (Hybrid / Onsite as required)

Duration: 6–12 months (highly extensible based on performance and project needs)

Number of Positions: 2

Start Date: As soon as selection is secured and background check is completed (immediate start preferred)

Employment Type: Contract (6–12 months + extensions)

About the Opportunity

We are looking for two experienced DevOps Engineers to join a high-impact delivery team in Melbourne. This is a hands-on contract role focused on standard DevOps practices across Azure and AWS environments. The successful candidates will own environment management, patching, infrastructure reliability, and CI/CD pipelines for critical business applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned DevOps professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to work with modern cloud platforms in Australia’s vibrant technology market.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using standard DevOps tools and practices across Azure and AWS.

- Manage full environment lifecycle – provisioning, configuration, scaling, and decommissioning of non-production and production environments.

- Lead patching and vulnerability management activities for OS, middleware, and application layers using industry-standard patching tools and processes.

- Implement and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure repeatable, auditable, and secure environments.

- Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and security posture using cloud-native monitoring and logging solutions.

- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to improve deployment frequency, reduce lead time, and maintain high availability.

- Automate routine operational tasks and environment management activities to drive efficiency and reduce manual effort.

- Ensure compliance with organisational security policies, change management processes, and audit requirements.

- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members where required.

Essential Requirements (Must-Have)

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a DevOps Engineer role with strong focus on Azure and AWS cloud platforms.

- Deep expertise in environment management and patching tools (experience with tools such as Azure Update Management, AWS Systems Manager, Ansible, or equivalent enterprise patching solutions is mandatory).

- Strong working knowledge of standard DevOps practices including:

- CI/CD pipeline development and management

- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation)

- Configuration management

- Containerisation (Docker) and orchestration basics

- Proven track record of managing large-scale, multi-environment cloud landscapes.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced delivery environment.

- Strong communication skills and stakeholder management experience.

- Right to work in Australia (no visa sponsorship available for this contract role).

Highly Desirable

- Experience in regulated or enterprise environments (finance, government, or large-scale commercial).

- Exposure to scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) and automation frameworks.

- Knowledge of monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana).

- Any relevant certifications (Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, or equivalent).

What We Offer

- Competitive contract day rate (market-leading for Melbourne DevOps roles with Azure & AWS focus).

- Long-term extensibility with high chance of extension or conversion.

- Opportunity to work on meaningful enterprise projects with modern cloud technologies.

- Immediate start once background checks are cleared.

How to Apply

If you are a DevOps Engineer with 5+ years Azure & AWS experience and strong expertise in patching tools & environment management, please apply with your updated resume and a short note on your most recent patching/environment management project.

Looking forward to connecting with strong Melbourne-based (or willing to relocate immediately) DevOps talent!
