About The Role

We are seeking an experienced PHP Symfony Backend Teamlead & Techlead for our Webshop team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading a talented group of developers, overseeing both technical development and team management. Your primary focus will be on maintaining and enhancing the hygi.de online platform, which is used daily by millions of customers. You will work hands-on in developing complex features, optimizing architecture, and ensuring high-quality code. As a team lead, you will guide and mentor your team members, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and make strategic decisions regarding technology and development processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the technical direction of a high-traffic e-commerce platform while leading a motivated team in a collaborative environment. Your expertise will directly contribute to the continued growth and innovation of hygi.de, ensuring the platform remains scalable, reliable, and user-friendly.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess several years of professional experience in object-oriented PHP development, with a strong emphasis on the Symfony framework. Proven experience in leading development teams, either technically or disciplinarily, is essential. A solid understanding of modern frontend architectures and the ability to collaborate effectively with frontend teams is required. You should demonstrate a high standard for code quality, system architecture, and deployment practices. Excellent communication skills, decision-making ability, and a proactive, structured work approach are vital. Candidates should also have a keen interest in e-commerce platforms, scalable software architectures, and emerging technologies. A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant certifications or additional training that support your technical expertise and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

Technical & Development (Hands-on):

• Actively participate in the ongoing development and maintenance of the hygi.de online shop, ensuring high performance and stability.
• Implement complex features, epics, and technical improvements aligned with business goals.
• Advance the shop architecture, including refactoring efforts and exploring headless commerce approaches.
• Maintain code quality, optimize performance, and ensure the platform's robustness and maintainability.
• Conduct and facilitate code reviews to promote best practices and knowledge sharing.
• Manage deployments and releases responsibly, minimizing downtime and issues.
• Document technical solutions continuously and share knowledge within the team.
  
  

Teamlead & Tech Lead

• Provide technical and disciplinary leadership for the entire Webshop team, fostering a productive and innovative environment.
• Mentor and coach team members, supporting their professional growth and skill enhancement.
• Coordinate with external developers, including freelancers, to ensure seamless integration and collaboration.
• Take overall responsibility for both backend and frontend development strategies and execution.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers to align on architecture, interfaces, and performance standards.
• Make strategic decisions regarding system architecture, technology standards, tools, and workflows.
• Lead agile processes, including planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain close communication with product owners, IT leadership, and other stakeholders to align development efforts with business objectives.
