Position: L2 Engineer – Reverse Proxy & Automation (NGINX, Ansible, GitLab)

Location: Luxembourg (remote-friendly, on-site presence required once per month)

We are looking for an L2 Engineer with strong experience in NGINX reverse proxy and infrastructure automation to support and evolve a large-scale platform used across the organization. The role combines operations, troubleshooting, automation, and CI/CD practices in a modern DevOps environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and support NGINX reverse proxy services (routing, rewriting, SSL/TLS, load balancing, security headers, basic WAF logic)

• Troubleshoot HTTP errors, backend connectivity issues, and performance bottlenecks

• Handle L2 incidents, requests, and problem investigations, ensuring stable and secure service delivery

• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for automated deployments

• Automate NGINX configuration updates and integrate workflows with NetBox and GitLab CI/CD

• Maintain accurate service data and dependencies in NetBox (source of truth)

• Contribute to code reviews, validation, linting, and release processes in GitLab

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience with NGINX reverse proxy

• Solid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP, DNS and Linux systems

• Experience with Ansible (playbooks, roles, automation design)

• Python scripting for tooling and API interactions

• Experience with GitLab CI/CD and version control workflows

• Familiarity with NetBox or similar CMDB tools

• Ability to analyze logs, metrics, and troubleshoot complex issues

Nice to have:

• Experience with reverse proxy migrations (e.g., Bluecoat → NGINX)

• Docker or Kubernetes exposure • ModSecurity or similar WAF technologies

• ITIL knowledge (Incident, Problem, Change)

• Monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Splunk
