One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Network Engineer – NTDS 4

Contract Duration: 12 Months (initially) + 24 Months extension
Work Location: Adelaide (onsite only)
Eligibility: You must hold NV1 Security Clearance (must be eligible for higher clearance if required)
Position Description:
The Network Engineer – NTDS 4 will support delivery of the JP2289-1 Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Information Environment (ISR IE) program. The role contributes to designing, building, testing, and operating secure ICT gateway capabilities that integrate ISR platforms with Defence strategic networks.
The position operates within a highly secure technical environment led by the Australian Signals Directorate supporting capability outcomes for the Department of Defence (Australia).
Key duties and responsibilities:
The Network Engineer – NTDS 4 will be responsible for:
Reviewing existing network architecture and identifying improvement opportunities aligned with Defence standards
Designing network components using agreed architectures, design standards, patterns, and methodologies
Translating logical network designs into physical implementations meeting operational performance and capacity requirements
Verifying network solutions against non-functional requirements including access controls, audit controls, validation, and security compliance
Supporting development of recovery routines and contingency procedures
Contributing to alternative network architectures, topology improvements, and secure gateway integration
Collaborating with technical teams across ASD, Defence Intelligence Group, and ISR-related projects
Producing engineering documentation aligned with project delivery frameworks
Reporting risks, dependencies, schedule status, and technical issues to project leadership
Supporting integration of ISR platforms across classified Defence environments
Essential Criteria:
Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise network infrastructure in secure environments
Demonstrated experience translating logical network designs into physical network solutions
Experience working with secure gateway solutions and classified network architectures
Understanding of network resilience, recovery planning, and contingency procedures
Experience reviewing network solutions against security, access control, and audit requirements
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams across complex ICT environments
Strong documentation and reporting capability aligned with engineering delivery standards
Desirable Criteria:
Experience working within Defence or Federal Government environments
Exposure to ISR, cross-domain, or multi-domain network integration environments
Familiarity with secure architecture principles such as Zero Trust and micro-segmentation
Experience contributing to large-scale capability delivery programs such as JP-series projects
