DevOps / GitLab Engineer

Job type: B2B (with Hays Poland)
Length: contract signed for 12 months, with possibility to prolong
Rate: 160-175 PLN/h net on B2B
Start date: ASAP/1 month
Working hours: business hours
Team: multinational
Working model: hybrid work 3 days per week in Warsaw office
Role description:
- We are seeking a GitLab Engineer / DevOps Engineer to join our centralized DevOps Tools Team.
- In this role, you will design, build, and maintain GitLab components and related tooling that empower product teams across the organization.
- You will enhance CI/CD capabilities and contribute to test automation and AI-driven use cases within pipelines. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on platform enablement, reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
What will you do:
- Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and manage GitLab components and configurations (groups, projects, runners, pipelines, templates, shared libraries).
- Build and maintain shared CI/CD pipelines, reusable templates, and best-practice patterns for delivery at scale. Integrate additional DevOps tooling (e.g., artifact repositories, secret management, scanning/SAST/DAST, observability, policy-as-code).
- Implement and maintain GitLab Runners (Kubernetes, autoscaling, Docker, shell) with enterprise-grade reliability and security.
- Contribute to test automation frameworks and integration of automated quality gates (unit, integration, e2e, performance, security scans) within pipelines.
- Explore and implement AI-enabled use cases in CI/CD (e.g., intelligent test selection, code quality insights, pipeline optimization, AI assistants), ensuring governance and responsible AI principles. Collaborate with security, platform, and product teams to standardize workflows, enforce policies, and improve developer productivity.
- Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, cost, and reliability; establish SLAs/SLOs and relevant KPIs. Create documentation, runbooks, and internal enablement materials; deliver training and provide Tier 2/3 support for GitLab and related tools.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, self-service capabilities, and feedback loops.

What we expect from you:
- Min. 5-6 years of experience as DevOps Engineer
- Specialized in GitLab administration (at enterprise scale preferred)
- Knowledge of Java / Python (no developer experience is required)
- Nice to have: experience in financial / banking sector
- Very good communication skills
- Knowledge of English on C1 level
