IT Specialist – Cyber Security | Windows Server | VMware | Security Operations

A major organisation within the critical infrastructure and transportation sector is seeking an IT Specialist – Cyber Security to join their cyber security function, supporting enterprise infrastructure, operational technology, and security uplift initiatives across complex environments.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong infrastructure engineering foundation who has transitioned into cyber security and understands how to secure operational enterprise environments from both a technical and risk perspective.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain the ISMS across multiple Australian services
• Drive practical security control implementation aligned to ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and Essential 8
• Conduct vulnerability management, security reviews, and remediation activities
• Investigate security incidents and perform root cause analysis
• Facilitate incident response tabletop exercises and readiness programs
• Support security uplift across infrastructure, identity, and cloud environments
• Contribute to BIA, PRA, and continuity planning activities
• Collaborate with internal and global security teams on security initiatives

Key Experience Required:

• Strong hybrid infrastructure and cyber security background
• Experience operating within ISO 27001 aligned environments
• Hands on vulnerability management and security operations exposure
• Understanding of Essential 8 and NIST CSF frameworks
• Strong stakeholder communication and problem solving skills

This is a hands on technical role focused on operational security, infrastructure hardening, and continuous security improvement rather than purely policy or compliance.
