About The Role

The Billing Director position at a prominent law firm offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead and optimize the firm’s billing operations. This leadership role involves overseeing a team of ten billing specialists, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all billing processes across multiple practice groups. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of legal billing systems, codes, and client reporting, with a proven track record of managing large-scale billing functions within a law firm environment. Reporting directly to firm leadership, the Billing Director will play a pivotal role in shaping billing strategies, enhancing operational efficiencies, and supporting the firm’s financial health. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of legal billing experience within a law firm, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Hands-on experience with various e-billing platforms such as CounselLink, TyMetrix360, Quovant, Collaborati, and Bottomline is essential. Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, is necessary for effective reporting and process analysis. Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are vital for managing a team, collaborating across departments, and engaging with attorneys and clients. The candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to process improvement and compliance management.

The Billing Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm’s billing operations, including supervising a team of ten billing professionals. Key responsibilities include ensuring all billing is conducted accurately and promptly, adhering to client guidelines and firm policies. Developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient billing procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and continuous process improvements is essential for streamlining operations. The role requires close collaboration with attorneys, finance teams, and clients to facilitate smooth billing and collections cycles. The Director will create and present detailed financial and billing reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, providing insights into billing performance and areas for enhancement. Serving as the subject matter expert on e-billing platforms, the role involves managing billing audits, budgets, and reconciliations to ensure compliance and financial accuracy. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for training, mentoring, and evaluating team members, fostering a culture of operational excellence and professional development.
