AI Engineer
Position Overview
We are a VR studio designing and building flight simulators for the Air Force. We are seeking an experienced AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy intelligent systems that integrate with modern LLM tooling. The successful candidate will develop production-ready AI-based internal tools using Claude and Cursor, architect pipeline integrations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions. This role focuses on applying deep knowledge of AI and toolchains to solve real-world problems and accelerate product innovation.
*Please note, this is a full-time and fully on-site role in LA*
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain AI-driven systems and services that leverage Claude, Cursor, and complementary tools.
- Integrate external and internal tools into LLM workflows to enable reliable, auditable, and efficient tool use.
- Develop production-quality code and APIs to expose model capabilities and tooling to product teams.
- Collaborate with product, design, and research teams to translate customer needs into architecture and implementation plans.
- Prototype, evaluate, and iterate on LLM prompts, chains, and tool orchestration to improve performance, safety, and user experience.
- Optimize inference, latency, and cost trade-offs for deployed AI components; monitor and troubleshoot production issues.
- Build automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and observability for AI systems to ensure robustness and repeatability.
- Document architectures, integration patterns, and operational runbooks; mentor engineers on best practices for tool-enabled LLM development.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with AI and LLM-based systems with hands-on exposure to Claude and Cursor.
- Strong understanding of tool integration patterns and building reliable toolchains for models (tool use, orchestration, and safety controls).
- Solid software engineering skills and experience delivering production-quality code and services.
- Experience with API design, web services, and integration of third-party tooling.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to communicate technical trade-offs, and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Nice to have: experience with C#, full-stack development, Unity, VR/AR tooling, building developer tooling, and prior roles as an engineer, programmer, or developer working with LLMs and runtime integrations.
