Location: Remote role (Occasional visit to Frankfurt, Germany)

Employment Type: 9-12 months contract with further extensions

Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to support a large-scale analytics and digital infrastructure project within the transport and railway sector.

This role focuses on advanced data analysis, enterprise Power BI reporting, cloud-based data integration, and data quality management within a modern AWS-driven analytics environment.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on expertise in Python, Power BI, SQL, and AWS data platforms, and can work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders in complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop complex event-driven data analyses using Python, Python Polars, and SQL
• Analyse large and complex datasets and present actionable insights to stakeholders
• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
• Create semantic models, KPIs, and advanced DAX calculations
• Develop and maintain Power BI Dataflows for centralized data preparation
• Implement data harmonisation and transformation processes using Power Query
• Work with AWS-based cloud data environments including AWS Athena and Amazon S3
• Query and analyse data from cloud-based data lake architectures
• Perform data quality validations, plausibility checks, and monitoring activities
• Support governance, security, and compliance requirements
• Implement authorisation concepts and Row-Level Security (RLS) within Power BI
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile delivery environments

Mandatory Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience conducting complex data analysis using Python
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI report and dashboard development
• Strong expertise in:
• DAX
• Power BI Dataflows
• Power Query
• Semantic Models
• KPI Development
• 2+ years of practical SQL experience
• Experience working with AWS cloud data environments
• Hands-on experience with:
• AWS Athena
• Amazon S3
• Data Lake architectures
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder communication and presentation skills
• Experience working in enterprise-scale IT environments

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience within railway, transport, mobility, or logistics industries
• Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) concepts in Power BI
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum or SAFe
• Experience working in cloud-based analytics and reporting environments
• Background in data governance, monitoring, and compliance processes
