IP Network Engineer – West Dublin (5 Days Onsite)
We are seeking an experienced IP Network Engineer to join a high-performing Core Network Engineering team supporting a major telecoms environment in Ireland. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on Service Provider IP technologies, core network build activities, migrations, upgrades, and network evolution projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and supporting large-scale Core IP infrastructure, working closely with architects, operations teams, and vendor TAC support across a multi-vendor environment.
Location
West Dublin, Ireland - 5 days onsite per week
Requirements
- Full Irish driving licence (essential)
- Ability to work onsite full-time in West Dublin
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and implement MPLS network changes within a Service Provider environment
- Deliver physical interconnects and service migrations across the Core IP Network
- Implement and migrate IP transit services
- Configure and support core network infrastructure including P, PE, BNG routers and aggregation switches
- Carry out software and hardware upgrades during maintenance windows in line with Change Management procedures
- Work closely with IP Architects on future Core Network design and evolution
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and engage vendor TAC teams where required
- Replicate and test faults within lab environments where necessary
- Support the development of bespoke services, templates, and automation/scripting capabilities
- Ensure operational readiness and smooth handover of new services into Operations teams
- Manage IPv4 and IPv6 address planning requirements
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation
Essential Skills & Experience
- Relevant third-level qualification, ideally in Telecommunications or Networking
- 3+ years’ experience as a Network Engineer within a major Telecoms / Service Provider environment
- JNCIA, JNCIS or other Juniper certifications, or equivalent hands-on Juniper/JunOS experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Juniper MX and/or ACX platforms
- Hands-on configuration experience with BGP and MPLS
- Experience working across multi-vendor environments including Juniper, Cisco, Nokia and/or Ciena
- Strong CLI configuration and troubleshooting experience
- Excellent documentation and technical reporting skills
- Full Irish driving licence
