Senior Java Developer – FX Clearing Platform

We’re working with a banking client who are extending a regulated FX clearing platform to support new FX Swaps capability.

They’re looking for Senior Java Engineers who can design, build, test, and support production-grade backend services in a high-availability, regulated environment. The work sits close to trade processing, service integration, resilience, latency, and operational readiness.

What you’ll be doing

Designing and implementing Java / Spring Boot services for FX Swaps processing

Supporting atomic processing of two-leg FX Swap packages and downstream integrations

Working with Oracle, SQL, caches, APIs, and distributed service integrations

Contributing to design notes, clean code, unit tests, integration tests, and release evidence

Building with latency, resilience, observability, and operational quality in mind

Collaborating with QA, DevOps, product, and architecture stakeholders in Agile delivery

Supporting release activity, go-live readiness, and early-life production support where needed

What they’re looking for

10+ years’ professional software engineering experience

Recent hands-on Java and Spring Boot delivery experience

Strong experience building production backend services

Good Oracle / SQL capability, including data integrity and performance awareness

Experience with APIs, service integration, distributed systems, or event/message-driven patterns

Strong unit and integration testing discipline

Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab

Ability to explain production-quality code, defect prevention, performance, and resilience work

Strong English communication and comfort working directly in a client-led Agile team

Nice to have

Capital markets, FX, swaps, forwards, clearing, trading, payments, or banking experience

Hazelcast or similar distributed cache experience

Low-latency or high-throughput transaction processing experience

Cloud migration awareness

Experience in regulated environments with audit, release gates, or operational-readiness evidence

Setup

Start: ASAP / target June start

Location: Bucharest, Romania

Working pattern: Hybrid, 1-2 days per week on site

Contract length: 12 months, with possible extension
