BettingJobs is working with a leading online gambling operator seeking to hire a HR Manager to join their team in Lisbon.


Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leadership and Global HR to design and implement HR strategy aligned with business goals
  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations independently for the Portugal entity
  • Support workforce planning and organisational development initiatives
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and HR compliance standards
  • Produce and present HR reports and KPIs to support data-driven decision-making
  • Manage end-to-end employee relations (grievances, disciplinary processes, conflict resolution)
  • Drive employee engagement, wellbeing, and internal communications initiatives
  • Organise employee events and gather employee feedback to improve satisfaction
  • Manage full recruitment lifecycle (job scoping, advertising, screening, interviewing, offers, hiring)
  • Oversee onboarding and induction programmes for new hires
  • Conduct pre-employment checks and assessments
  • Coordinate performance management processes and feedback cycles
  • Identify and support learning & development needs across the organisation
  • Ensure compliance with Portuguese labour law and company policies
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records, employee data, contracts, and documentation
  • Prepare and submit payroll inputs to external payroll providers and liaise with finance
  • Manage benefits, leave administration, and other HR operational processes
  • Support audits and ensure ongoing legal and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee full employee lifecycle (recruitment to offboarding, including probation, promotions, transfers, exits)
  • Coordinate HR priorities and projects with Global HR leadership
  • Mentor junior HR team members where applicable


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field
  • Proven experience in a standalone HR Generalist or HR Manager role
  • Strong knowledge of Portuguese labour law and HR compliance requirements
  • End-to-end employee lifecycle management experience
  • Experience coordinating payroll with external payroll providers
  • Strong employee relations and conflict resolution experience
  • HRIS systems experience and ability to produce HR reports/KPIs
  • Ability to work independently as sole HR representative for a country/region
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including senior leadership engagement
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to balance strategic HR work with hands-on operational delivery
  • Fluent in English; Portuguese highly preferred
