The role

Reporting to: Director, Enterprise Architecture


Job role and purpose:

The Tech Lead will play a crucial role in managing the technical delivery of projects, mentoring team members, and ensuring the overall quality, delivery, performance and ownership of the delivery of IT solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders, including software engineers, project managers, and business/product owners, to ensure delivery and timetables. The Tech Lead helps stakeholders to define “what” part in detail and turns that into “how” it is delivered together with other IT stakeholders. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring that all requirements are well documented, ticketed and prioritized for the development team(s).


At 3stepIT, Tech Lead also acts as a technical owner for named solution(s), such as ERP, AssetIQ, CRM, ServiceNow, Finance, etc. systems. You understand the big picture of all 3stepIT products, and services, and the named solution(s) on a detailed functional & architecture level. This role requires occasional travel based on business needs.


Main responsibilities & tasks:

  • Tech Leadership: Lead technical decision-making, provide guidance on best practices, and ensure consistent implementation across all projects in a focus area based on technology competence and background
  • Architecture & Design: Lead and ensure together with architects and other stakeholders a robust and scalable design, and secure IT solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, business analysts, vendors and other teams to align technical initiatives with business objectives. Communicate technical concepts and progress to non-technical stakeholders and participate in project/sprint planning and estimation activities.
  • Performance & Scalability: Drive optimal performance, security, and scalability of the applications and systems being developed.
  • Problem Solving: Lead the resolution of challenges to ensure that project risks are identified and mitigated effectively.
  • Documentation: Ensure all relevant technical documentation is created, maintained, and easily accessible for future reference.
  • Dev/partner coordination: Ensure all relevant items are documented as user stories for development teams and roadmap/backlogs are up to date.
  • Delivery ownership: Owns and ensures the delivery of technical outputs for projects (unless there is a dedicated Project Manager having that ownership). Owns the partnership and DevOps for selected platforms/systems/applications
  • System/process ownership: Owns the named solution(s) on a technical level, understands how solution(s) are built and how the process(es) are run through the solutions. Help defining named solution(s) strategy and vision together with stakeholders.


Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science or related field
  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Tech Lead, preferably in a technology-driven complex business environment
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering large-scale IT projects
  • End-to-End business process understanding
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern development practices (CI/CD, Agile methodologies)
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and development best practices
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to balance short-term business pressure with long-term system health
  • Excellent collaboration and ability to communicate across different organizational function
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and data protection standards
  • Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks
  • Good understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong English communication skills required. Finnish language skills are regarded as an advantage

Please note that the person selected for this role needs to pass the Finnish security clearance (perusmuotoinen turvallisuus-selvitys).
