Artificial Intelligence Engineer

We are working with a fast-growing SaaS company based in Ghent, building intelligent software that helps businesses automate complex workflows and make better decisions through data and AI. As they continue to expand our AI capabilities, they're looking for an experienced AI Engineer to help design, build, and scale AI-powered features used by customers across Europe.

You will combine work with software engineering, machine learning, and generative AI. You will be responsible for developing production-ready AI solutions, integrating LLMs into the platform, and building systems that deliver real business value.

This is a hands-on engineering role. We are looking for someone who not only understands AI and ML concepts but can also build software that performs reliably in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy AI-powered features within a SaaS platform
• Build and optimize LLM applications using modern frameworks such as LangChain
• Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agent-based workflows
• Fine-tune, evaluate, and monitor machine learning and NLP models
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to deliver AI solutions that solve customer problems
• Develop APIs, services, and backend systems in Python
• Improve model performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Implement AI evaluation, testing, and monitoring practices
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in Generative AI, LLMs, and NLP

Your Profile

Required

• Strong background in Software Engineering
• 3+ years of experience developing production software applications
• Professional experience with Python
• Solid understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Experience building applications using Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Experience with LangChain or similar orchestration frameworks
• Strong understanding of API design, system architecture, and software development best practices
• Experience working with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Nice to Have

• Experience with RAG architectures and vector databases
• Familiarity with LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or similar frameworks
• Experience with MLOps and model deployment
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working in a SaaS environment
• Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source LLMs
