Network Engineer (SD-WAN & Operational Support)

Location: Bucharest

On-call / maintenance activities outside business hours required

We are looking for a Network Engineer with strong SD-WAN and enterprise networking expertise to join a highly operational team responsible for the stability, support, and continuous improvement of a complex network environment. This role is heavily focused on RUN activities, incident management, troubleshooting, and change implementation within a regulated enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for enterprise network infrastructure, including SD-WAN environments
• Handle incidents, service requests, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and security components
• Monitor network performance and proactively identify potential issues impacting service availability
• Plan, prepare, implement, and review network changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities
• Participate in evening and weekend maintenance windows and on-call support rotations
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders to resolve complex network issues
• Ensure high availability, stability, performance, and security of network services
• Support and mentor less experienced team members during operational activities and major incidents
• Contribute to network automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in Network Operations / RUN support environments
• Proven experience supporting and troubleshooting SD-WAN solutions in enterprise environments
• Strong knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, WAN, VPN, and network security
• Very good knowledge of Cisco technologies and solutions
• Experience with network appliances and technologies such as F5 and ADVA
• Experience with SD-WAN platforms (e.g. Cisco SD-WAN/Viptela, Fortinet SD-WAN, VMware VeloCloud, Versa, Silver Peak/Aruba EdgeConnect, or similar)
• Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as GitLab and Ansible
• Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise or banking environments
• Understanding of change management, production support, and operational processes
• High attention to detail, ownership mindset, and ability to work under pressure
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent English
• Availability to participate in regular evening and weekend maintenance activities

Nice to Have

• Experience in regulated financial or banking environments
• Experience with network automation and Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives
• Knowledge of cloud networking (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Familiarity with ITIL or structured operational support frameworks
• Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP Enterprise, Cisco SD-WAN, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent
