Investment Banking Associate

Job Purpose

Role Holder is responsible for leading and supporting the team during execution of various debt finance products and transactions as part of the Investment Banking team.

• Debt Finance products and services such as Conventional & Islamic Debt Capital Markets, Syndicated & Club Facilities, Project Finance, and Acquisition Financing

• Ensures compliance with Global Standards, risk policies, and HSBC values

Following tasks are undertaken as part of support / assistance processes:

• Prepare proposals, teasers, information memorandums and investor materials

• Draft new business presentations, draft marketing and execution memoranda, conduct market / industry research and quantitative analysis, and attend client presentations as required

• Structure, develop, maintain and analyse financial models, including cash flow, debt financing, comparative and pro forma analyses

• Develop appropriate financing structures/models, prepare submission materials to various credit and capital committees and assess credit considerations, market trends and competitive dynamics

• Support senior stakeholders in providing solution-oriented coverage to Treasurer and C-Suite level clients and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Produce secondary market update reports, pipeline reports, regional weekly update, ExCo papers, board papers and Wholesale Banking presentations (or any other reporting requirements)

Qualifications & Experience

• Knowledge on investment banking, debt finance products, credit analysis and customer relationship management
• Building financial models and preparing client presentations
• Basic knowledge on financial / debt capital markets and relevant legislation
• Superior Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) skills
• Strong academic background, graduated from top tier universities’ Engineering, Economics or Business Administration faculties
• Over 4-5 years of work experience in the related area
• Fluency and strong presentation skills in English and Turkish
• Ability to work with global products and sector teams of HSBC Group
• Highly interested in understanding of the capital markets
• Excellent analytical, quantitative and interpretative skills
• Robust communication and negotiations skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Being adaptive, resilient and multi-tasking
