About the Client

We are sourcing on behalf of Alpheya, a B2B WealthTech startup based in Abu Dhabi and backed by BNY Mellon and Lunate. The company has raised $300M to build a state of the art wealth technology platform.

Their mission is to power and grow their clients’ Wealth franchises through differentiated experiences, financial solutions, and insights. Their digital wealth management platform will enable banks and other financial institutions in the Middle East to grow and further penetrate affluent, HNW and UHNW investor segments.

While still leveraging the capabilities and knowledge of large organizations, this fintech is a startup with truly cross-functional and agile teams.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Own the product brief end-to-end. You take a business problem and turn it into a complete, technically grounded specification that engineering can build from without guesswork. You define what success looks like, what is explicitly out of scope, and what decisions need to be made before a single line of code is written.

Translate technical contracts into user outcomes. You work directly with API and protocol documentation — REST and FIX — and own every user-facing consequence of what those contracts allow, constrain, or fail to define. You design for the full state space: loading, success, failure, timeout, and async resolution. You never leave behavioural edge cases for engineering to decide.

Set and defend the quality bar. You define non-functional requirements as commitments, not intentions — covering performance, reliability, security, and data integrity. You identify integration risks and missing behaviours before a sprint is committed, not after QA discovers them. When scope is cut, you cut deliberately and document what was deferred and why.

Own the async and real-time experience. You brief the full lifecycle of time-sensitive user interactions: what the user sees while waiting, what happens when they leave and return, how push notifications behave, and what the product does when a real-time connection degrades. Async is not an edge case — it is the product.

Design internal APIs as products. You define consumer contracts, versioning policies, and platform boundaries before the first consuming team builds against them. You evaluate third-party dependencies for consumer risk. You own the platform SLA and treat a broken contract as a product failure, not an engineering incident.

Build, not just specify. You can scaffold and ship a working mobile application that integrates internal and external APIs. You use AI-assisted development tools to compress the gap between idea and working product.

Use AI as a core work practice. You use AI tooling — for brief writing, acceptance criteria, API analysis, prototype generation, and delivery automation — as a standard part of how you work, not an experiment. You prompt precisely, edit critically, and know where AI output requires human judgement. Alpheya provides best-in-class AI tooling and expects you to use it to operate at a level above your headcount.

Instrument and measure what you ship. You define telemetry as part of the brief: user funnel visibility, system performance across the full stack, error breakdown by category, and business outcome metrics. You use data to decide what to fix, what to phase, and what to kill.

WHAT WE NEED

  • Proven experience as a product owner or product manager in a B2B or B2B2C fintech, trading, or wealth management environment
  • Fluency in REST API and FIX protocol documentation — able to read a spec, identify gaps, and own the product consequences
  • Track record of shipping integration-rich, customer-facing mobile journeys with explicit acceptance criteria and measurable NFRs
  • Hands-on experience building or prototyping mobile applications that integrate real APIs — not mockups
  • Active, demonstrated use of AI coding and product tools (Claude, Cursor or equivalent) as part of your daily workflow
  • Experience in API product design: consumer contracts, versioning, error handling, and SLA ownership
  • Fluency in agile delivery: backlog management, sprint planning, release health, and cross-team dependency tracking
  • Strong written English; Arabic is a plus

DOMAIN CONTEXT

Alpheya operates across equities trading, portfolio management, client onboarding, and KYC/AML workflows for regulated GCC financial institutions. You will work with broker integrations, core banking APIs, real-time market data, and digital identity infrastructure. Prior domain experience is an advantage, but technical rigour, delivery track record, and AI fluency matter more.

WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE

The best person in this role will:

  • Turn ambiguity into a scoped, actionable brief faster than most people can schedule a meeting about it
  • Catch integration risks and undefined behaviours before engineering discovers them in QA
  • Hold a position under pushback, proposing alternatives, not retreating to whatever the room wants
  • Ship a working prototype to prove a concept before committing a sprint to it
  • Use AI tooling to operate well above what the role headcount would suggest is possible
  • Make the product measurably better with every release — not just shippable

WHAT WE OFFER

A flat, high-trust environment. There are no layers between your work and the people who shape the product direction. You will be heard, challenged, and given real ownership from day one.

AI tooling without bureaucracy. We provide access to the best AI development and product tools available and expect you to use them. We do not restrict tooling choices or run approval processes for experimentation. If a tool makes you faster and better, use it.

Real deployments, real stakes. You will work on live products used by wealth clients at GCC's leading banks — not internal prototypes or sandbox environments. What you ship matters and the feedback is immediate.

Competitive compensation and benefits. Salary benchmarked to the Abu Dhabi market, private health, dental, and optical insurance, and the hardware and software you need to do the job properly.

By applying to this position, you are granting us permission to process your CV and keep your profile on file for consideration for this and future opportunities.
