Role Overview:

• Location: Cheltenham (Hybrid) – occasional travel to Hereford may be required
• Package: Up-to £70,000 Basic + bonus + excellent benefits
• Industry: Defence / National Security / Secure Digital Technology

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Designing, building, and maintaining secure software solutions used in critical environments
• Developing Android applications using Kotlin with modern UI approaches
• Building backend services and APIs using Rust, Python, or Go
• Working with Docker to containerise applications and support consistent deployments
• Supporting CI/CD pipelines to improve automation and delivery speed
• Writing clean, well-structured, and maintainable code across the stack
• Collaborating closely with engineers, architects, and delivery teams
• Taking part in code reviews and contributing to continuous improvement
• Working within secure development environments and adapting to evolving requirements

Main Skills Needed:

• Strong experience with Git and collaborative software development
• Android development experience using Kotlin
• Backend development exposure in Rust, Python, or Go
• Understanding of software architecture principles (e.g. MVVM, UDF) and RESTful APIs
• Experience with Docker and containerised environments
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Ability to work effectively in secure or restricted development environments
• Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset
• Comfortable working in fast-changing, prototype-driven environments
