Network Engineer

Network Engineer (ISP) - Cisco & Fortinet

Location: London – Hybrid

Duration: Initially, 1 month

Rate: £400, Inside IR35

We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of our most prestigious clients, they are looking for a Network Engineer to join the team on an initial 1 month contract with the potential to extend. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and implementing customer solutions across network, connectivity, and security environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience with Cisco (ASA, IOS XR, Meraki) and Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiAP, FortiSwitch) network and security platforms in a delivery or service provider environment.
• Strong understanding of LAN, WAN, WLAN, firewall, and VPN technologies.
• Working knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and core networking principles.
• Ability to translate designs and requirements into implementable technical solutions.
• Experience delivering solutions from design through to implementation.
• Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA and Fortinet certifications are desirable.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver customer network, connectivity and security solutions to agreed designs, timelines and quality standards.
• Configure, stage, deploy and migrate network infrastructure including firewalls, VPNs, routing, WAN and LAN/WLAN solutions.
• Implement secure multi-tenant network environments, ensuring appropriate segmentation, resilience and performance requirements are met.
• Produce clear Low-Level Designs (LLDs), implementation plans, migration plans and test documentation to support successful project delivery.
• Lead technical implementation activities, including installations, migrations, cutovers and customer onboarding projects.
• Validate and troubleshoot deployment issues during implementation, ensuring successful handover into live service.
• Own the delivery lifecycle through implementation, testing and operational handover.
• Manage technical change throughout project delivery, assessing impact on scope, effort, risk and timelines.
• Maintain accurate implementation documentation, network diagrams & config records.
• Work closely with Solution Architects, Project Managers, Service Delivery and Operations teams to ensure successful customer outcomes.
• Contribute to the development of standardised deployment methodologies, automation and repeatable implementation processes.
• Ensure high-quality project delivery with minimal post-implementation issues and successful customer acceptance.
