We are looking for a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to take responsibility for Fastems’ IT strategy, operations and enterprise security. You will report to the CTO and lead a seven-person IT team, supporting their work and development. In this role, the emphasis is on understanding business needs and aligning technology development initiatives with the company’s strategy, as well as building strong stakeholder relationships both within internal organization and with external IT partners and stakeholders. The position is based at Fastems' HQ in Tampere, complemented by hybrid working.
At the core of your role is ensuring that IT operations support Fastems’ business and its continued development. You will build and develop the reliability, security, and scalability of the IT infrastructure and systems. You will ensure that technology investments are directed in line with business priorities. You will also actively manage the work of external IT partners and take responsibility for license and service contract management.
Fastems has achieved ISO 27001 certification, and your task is to ensure its maintenance and to develop the company’s readiness to meet emerging cybersecurity regulatory and certification requirements, such as the CRA and CMMC. Through your work, you will advance the adoption of artificial intelligence and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
What we expect from you
We are looking for an experienced IT leader with a proven track record of leading demanding IT, technology, or cybersecurity functions. You are able to operate on both a strategic and practical level: you can set direction, prioritize, and lead specialists, but you are also ready to be actively involved in everyday solutions, development projects, and stakeholder work.
To succeed, you will bring:
- A relevant M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree, along with at least 5–10 years of experience in IT leadership, technology leadership, or comparable IT responsibilities.
- A track record of leading system environments and digital development projects, and of aligning them with business objectives.
- People leadership experience, together with the ability to develop competence, clarify priorities, and support the success of the team.
- Strong knowledge of IT strategy, enterprise architecture, and cloud services, as well as solid expertise in leveraging data and AI in business. An understanding of cybersecurity and its management, as well as experience with information security management systems (e.g. ISO 27001) and familiarity with emerging regulatory requirements (e.g. CRA, CMMC), is considered an advantage.
- Experience in managing IT partners, licenses, and service contracts.
In your way of working, you are proactive, solution-oriented, and collaborative. You are able to make decisions, drive matters forward, and build trust with different stakeholders. We value the ability to simplify complex matters, prioritize what is essential, and advance shared success with a hands-on approach. You communicate fluently in English, and strong Finnish skills are a clear asset for leading the team and working with local partners.
What we offer you
We offer you an impactful role in an international, family-owned Finnish technology company whose business is built around intelligent automation, digitalization, and services.
At Fastems, you will be given responsibility and room to make an impact, but also the support of a skilled team and experienced partners. You will work in close cooperation with the business functions in a role where your development work has a direct effect on the company’s operations, technology, and future competitiveness.
Fastems’ culture is defined by growth, honesty, and courage. In everyday work, this is reflected in taking responsibility, open communication, collaboration, simplifying things, and a desire to develop together. We offer an international working environment, the opportunity to develop your own skills, and the support of a long-term family-owned company for your success.
